Friday Challenge...I Really Can't Stay

I need to post a little early since I get to go to the Christmas open house at the scrap booking store in Branson!

I have the song line "I really ca't stay ahh, but it's cold outside." This is a color challenge where you will have some parts of your card/tag/project that will be close in value (light and dark) to the background, allowing one element to pop forward. Think low contrast vs high contrast.

I have created some samples to show you what I mean.

You will have until Tuesday at midnight to foil the list for a small prize from me! Have fun! I can't wait to see what you all do!

Notice in the bottom photo how the darkest design completely blends into the background. You wouldn't want this for a whole card, but is does help various elements not compete for attention.

Nice cards and challenge Marilyn. I need to think about this one a little bit.

I like the simplicity of this challenge. And love the blue snowflake cards.
Like Elaine, I need to ponder this challenge a bit. It's got a CAS feel to it which is the most challenging card for me to make! (Says the Queen of layering, fussy cutting, and well... generally just fussing over cards to the nth degree!)

Marilyn, your work, as usual, is beautiful. And, as usual, your challenge is quite challenging. This one is going to make me think for a while. I'm hoping my brain doesn't get lost in the process. :o

Okay... hope that I did this challenge correctly. I inked up a snowflake embossing folder with a light blue ink just a bit darker than the background paper. (Have wanted to try this technique for a while. Was surprised at how easy it is!)
The result was enough of the embossed paper for two cards- inspired by a Pinterest find. (Although my version looks a bit more like a white bird than a snowman. Perhaps he needs to lay off of the ice cream and he'd have a neck?)

Aww, Kathy, those are both great! They don't look like birds at all.

I went with a background paper that had lots of shades of purple in it. I layered dark purple (it actually is almost an exact match to flecks in the background) on top.

Nice cards Marilyn. I'm like the others....I will need to think about this one for awhile. Meanwhile...I see Kathy and Golda jumped right in and conquered this challenge.

Cute snowmen cards Kathy!
Golda...love that you used purple....love it, love it, love it!

Kathy, I love your snowman! He is just "fluffy!"

You both have done a great job on this!
