Shake It - July 15 to 21

Dispel the Monday blues with this Monday morning to Sunday night challenge.

Moderator: Ellie

Your challenge this week, should you choose to accept it, is to make a shaker element. You can put it on a card, tag, page, whatever paper project you would like.

I have found that both tulle and organza work in place of acetate and allow your element to be a bit thinner. You can also use whatever shapes you have, you just need a hole through part, which can be done with a craft knife (say if you want your shaker in the belly of an image, or something).

Everyone that posts their shaker creation by the time I get up on Monday morning (4:40am AZ time) will be entered in a drawing for a small prize from me.

Here are a few examples:

This one uses organza and just a couple layers of card underneath to make the "hole".

Terrie, that is beautiful! I love the shaker behind the word. Those flowers are really pretty, too.

Terrie, that's really cute and I like that you did something different with it. I hope to do this Sunday when I get home from dog sitting.

ANYONE ELSE? These are simple. You can used stacked paper glued together instead of foam tape, you can use seeds for inside (I bet you have some in your kitchen), these are pretty simple and so much fun.

Here's another one I did this week:

For this, I just used a simple die to cut a hole in some pretty paper, put an alcohol ink background behind the hole, put some foam tape around the area, some sequins that went with the colors, a small piece of acetate under the pretty paper, over the hole, and adhered it together. Quick, simple, and done. I could have just cut a couple more pieces of plain (throw away) card and stacked those instead of foam tape.

I almost forgot to post this card that I finished yesterday. Tried using a scrap from an old nylon scarf of my moms instead of acetate. Seems to work with less clumping of sequins. Yay. Also used three chipboard sentiments from my scrapbooking stash. And the image from A Day for Daisies (which, sadly, is closing the end of this month. This is the fourth or fifth in the last few years. I always hate to see that happen.)
