3D Challenge March 18

An open ended midweek challenge to give you a little bump to get through the rest of the week! Begins on Wednesday mornings.

Moderator: eoconnell

Your challenge this week is to make a card with a 3D feature. This is not the same thing as using pop dots! I made this card by using three of the same image in graduated sizes and stacking them with small dimensionals. The hearts were some printed embellishments I bought years ago. You could do this with digital images by printing them in three sizes.

There is also a way to do this with Spellbinders. It's a little more complicated but produces a really neat looking effect. This is a card that I made for a challenge here some time ago. I found a tutorial that is an easy way to do this. The cardmaker uses lots of layers but you don't have to use that many. Use at least three and knock yourself out after that if you like. Here is a link to the tutorial:

If anyone comes up with another method, please feel free to post directions or a link to a tutorial. 3D images can really give pizzaz to a card; I hope you will try it!

Those are both great, Ellie! This is very intriguing. I'll have to look at the link when I get home.

Had fun doing this challenge. Was simpler than the 3-D cards I usually do. This doesn't require any fussy cutting. I used a free digi image from Dearie Dolls (http://freedeariedollsdigistamps.blogspot.com/) and some scraps of the plastic transparent index dividers that I used in a recent challenge.

That is cute, Kathy!

Ellie, I found some papers the other day, but things got crazy and I haven't had a chance to work on it.

Kathy, your card is darling. I love the way you have her looking through a balloon...so cute! Thanks for doing this challenge.

Golda, life gets in the way. There's no deadline so you can do this whenever it works for you.
