Water Stamping Challenge 6/1/16

An open ended midweek challenge to give you a little bump to get through the rest of the week! Begins on Wednesday mornings.

Moderator: eoconnell

Your challenge is to stamp with water. :D Cover your cardstock with distress ink, then spray your stamp with water and stamp right on it. Leave your stamp there for at least a few seconds to a minute, to let the water do it's thing. It really is simple and makes a fun effect. Here are a few examples:

Take the time to try it. It is really simple and fun to do. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Here's where I got the idea:

This looks like fun, Golda! I have a big day of gardening today but I will try this as soon as I can. Thanks for posting the video link.

that does look fun!
...but I have to finish cleaning my desk and catch up on laundry before I do anything! I did get a start on my desk yesterday, well sort of... See a chit chat thread. That'll be more appropriate than posting it here!

What a unique idea! And your cards are delightful. Not sure I'll get time to play along because I am prepping for an intense week long training... but might get to join in when I return. If not... I'll ohh and ahh over all the entries!

I was not terribly successful. I thought I would try the technique out on some bookmarks. The first one on the left, I thought maybe it was because of the paper - I used a SU Natural White. The second attempt in the middle, I used a regular SU weight white. Then I thought, maybe it's because 2 of the colors I was using were distress stains, not inks so the last try on the right is just inks. The middle one shows up the best but I don't know why. I held the stamps down all about the same amount of time; maybe 15 seconds. Oh well, it was a fun experiment but not loving my results. So Golda, what kind of paper did you use?

Oh and as usual, you'll have to wait till photobucket adjusts it and it fixes itself to see the one on the right. Argh.

I just used regular cheap card stock I got from SAMs Club. I left the stamps sitting on the card for about 30 seconds. However, I noticed it showed up better on certain colors. It is a lighter look. I think your book marks look pretty good. You might try layering it and/or put something on it.

Thanks for playing along, Elaine, even if it wasn't what you were anticipating.

Hooray, I finally got to make a card! I like this technique. It's quick and easy and looks great. I think the secret is to use just one color of distress ink and really apply a lot to the paper. Thanks, Golda!

Ellie, that looks great! Thanks for playing along. You're right, it did take a lot of distress ink.

Since I don't have distressed inks, I've been playing with other brands to see if I had anything that would work. I got lucky and my Mix Media ink worked, I just haven't gotten it made into a card yet. Now that Graduation is over, I can dump everything off my art desk and start de-stressing with some card therapy!
