And, I have always used overhead transparencies when acetate is called for. One advantage is that you can emboss on them because they are made to take heat.
I did a bit of research and just learned that, if you want a more sturdy sheet of acetate, you can go to an office supply store and purchase the plastic pages used in making binders (Sometimes called clear cover stock.) However, I don't think you can heat emboss these.
